Akinwunmi Ambode continued his consultation with Royal Fathers in Ikorodu today as he paid homage at the palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, where he met with the Regent, Chief Zaccheus Olawale Odusoga and other High Chiefs of the Ikorodu division.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate stated that his visit is intended to intimate the royal fathers with his plans and programmes for the state, while also seeking their support and prayers in ensuring the continued growth of Ikorodu and the sustained excellence of the state as a whole.
In his address, Ambode stated that paramount among his many novel plans to continue the infrastructural development of the division, is a move to expand the road linking Ikorodu and Epe to a 10-lane expressway. He added that the entire benefits that the whole division deserves, be it in development, empowerment and appointments, will be evenly appropriated to its four sub-divisions in the next four years.
He also promised to implement programmes that will rigorously engage and empower the teeming youth population of Ikorodu. The youth, he said, will largely benefit from the 1 Billion Naira Employment Trust Fund that will be made available to the division every year.
In their response, the Regent and Odofin of Ikorodu, Omooba Kabiru Adewale Sotobi, , who spoke on behalf the leaders, appreciated Ambode for taking time to visit them in Ikorodu. Omooba Sotobi moved on to state that the entire Ikorodu have always supported the party of progressives, and that they remain resolute in their resolve to stand by the progress of Ikorodu and Lagos as a whole.
They debunked the rumours of a rift among the leadership of Ikorodu as touching their choice of leaders in the forthcoming elections, and therefore employed the opportunity to restate their unified support for the APC and for Ambode both during and after the polls.
