The ever thrilling Akinwunmi Ambode roadshow continued today as it coursed through the Ojota, Alapere, and Ketu areas of the Kosofe Local Government Area in Lagos state.
The excitement with which the Kosofe people received the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate was typical of the other LGA road shows, as he was hailed all along the train. The Roadshow also rocked the entire stretch of the Ogudu road all the way back to the Ojota end of the LGA.
The great turnout and constantly overwhelming reception keeps reinforcing the reality that the people are ready for continuity in Lagos. It also proves to be a productive and profitable way to engage the electorates, judging by the positive reception given and the interaction that ensues afterwards
Jubilant scenes marked the Akinwunmi Ambode roadshow today as it moved through Obalende and its environs in the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Community Development Area.
The rousing reception of people consisting Lagosians of different ethnic nationalities together with passerscheered Ambode through the course of roadshow, while chanting phrases that included “incoming governor”, “AMBO!”, “Ride on APC”, amidst similarly supportive expressions.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state was joined in the roadshow by the Senator representing Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (OON) and Lagos state House of Assembly member representing Eti-Osa constituency, Engineer Gbolohan Olusegun Yishawu.
The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate was full of confidence as he assured the Eti-Osa gathering of maintaining the tradition of excellence that the state is known for nationwide. He stated this today at his interactive town hall meeting with the Eti-Osa people, in the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Community Development Area.
Ambode restated the essence of the interactive session as a desire to listen to the people’s demands and concerns, which will form the thrust of his administration. Continuity was the recurring demand and bonding word as the different groups of the people took turns to ask questions that bordered on improved infrastructure, recognition, inclusion, more participation and welfare.
The gubernatorial candidate said the primary responsibility of any government is to uphold the interests of its people. While promising to continue the good works in the state, he added that his administration, when elected, will prioritize their welfare and protect their interests by implementing people-based policies and programmes.
Traditional rulers, religious and civil society groups, the body of Artisans, market women and men together with the Eti-Osa youths participated in the interaction, and re all unanimous in the expression of support for continuity in Lagos.
Ambode was joined at the interactive session by Senator representing Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (OON), who enjoined the people to express pragmatic support, first by getting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), and then by actually voting and defending their votes for the APC on Election Day.
One of the high points of the town hall meeting in Festac today came when the Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha officially admitted Akinwunmi Ambode into the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Forum, effective May 29, 2015.
Governor Okorocha said the election of the Lagos state APC governorship candidate is already “signed, sealed and delivered”, and that it gives pleasure to know that Ambode is joining the Forum of performers in earnest.
“You all know that I don’t associate with anything that isn’t good enough, especially when it relates to the good of the people. Ambode possesses that rare human kindness, the intelligence and an organized mind to lead this state into further glory. He is the best that God has given us in this election”, Okorocha stated.
Speaking in the three Nigerian languages of Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, he urged the people to vote for Ambode, whose abilities he strongly vouched for.
“He wasn’t found wanting as the Accountant-General of the state and Treasurer of different Local Governments. I am so sure he will continue where Fashola stops”
Okorocha then proceeded to state that, “On behalf of the good people of Lagos state, I hereby officially admit you, Akinwunmi Ambode, into the APC Governorship Forum, effective from May 29, 2015”, much to the cheer of the people.
There were lots of high points as Akinwunmi Ambode took his message of continuity to Amuwo-Odofin and Ori-Ade Local Government Area (LGA) today. The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate restated his resolve to keep the state within its tradition of excellence by improving upon the laudable programmes of the present government.
He said this while interacting with the people at a town hall meeting where he entertained questions from the Amuwo-Odofin electorates that consisted ethnic nationalities, religious groups, artisans associations and a host of youths. Questions bordered on government inclusion, access to finance and sustained infrastructural growth, and Ambode gave assuring responses to all.
He gave a promise of prosperity and welfare in the next four years, adding that his programmes and policies are all people-oriented and are in line with the manifesto of the progressive APC basically designed to better the lives of the people by using common sense revolution.
Ambode said more fruits of governance will come to Lagos and to the nation as a whole when the people together unite to vote out the corrupt leadership at the centre.
A high point of the interactive session came when the Peoples’ Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo state arrived to grace the event. Speaking to the cheering audience, he also labelled the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a “disgrace to the country”. He said the rot in the country simply shows that there’s bad leadership in the country, and must be changed by March 28.
The Arewa community, the South-south coalition, the Igbos, market women and men, and all the artisan groups that participated in the interactive session all declared their support for the continuity in Ambode’s candidacy, and also for the candidates of the APC In the forthcoming elections.
