Ambode at APC Leadership Town Hall Meeting With Women

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, today joined the APC Leaders in a Town Hall meeting with the Nigerian women. APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) and the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi actively took part in the interaction that focused on the roles and participation of women in governance in the country.

In his opening address, Governor Fashola noted that women have always played an important role in the process of national development and that the APC is willing to implement policies meant to enable women maximize their roles and influence on nation building. General Buhari in his remarks said that the party is on mission to restore Nigeria’s fading glory and this could not be done without the women. He said there would be concerted efforts to empower women in every aspect of governance, adding that more will be done to protect their rights and varying interests.

The women at this interactive session asked questions that bordered around the plans of the APC concerning abuse, women rights, better education, job creation, the future of their children, electricity, security, empowerment and general welfare.
Akinwunmi Ambode in his response to one of the questions raised about harassment by some authorities said the APC in Lagos and in the nation as a whole will improve on the workings of its institutions and parastals in order to respect and accommodate the rights of every individual, male and female alike.

After giving assuring responses to each of the questions raised, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu implored the women to vote wisely; to vote for a government that truly involves them as stakeholders in nation building and to use their position as influencers in favor of the movement for Change.

Women across the country, especially in the south-west zone, from professional bodies, civil society and human right groups, artisans, market women, corporate bodies, entertainment groups and other facets gathered at the Lagos venue of the interactive meeting to engage the APC leadership.

Also present at the meeting were Senator Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Ambode’s running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule, and other prominent Nigerian women.

Eti-Osa Stands Still for Ambode and APC Campaign Train

It was the turn of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area (LGA) today to express total support and acceptance for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Lagos state governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, during the APC rally held IPin the LGA. The Eti-Osa people gave an outstanding turnout which further galvanized the victorious momentum the APC keeps garnering as the election draw near.

In his address, a visibly grateful Ambode promised the people to consolidate on the feats of the present APC government when elected, with an added pledge to even do much more.

He said the economy of Lagos state is directly related to its transportation set-up, security and tourism, and added that Eti-Osa LGA will benefit tremendously from the planned 24/7 economy that will be created for the state through the upgrading and exploration of these sectors in the next four years.

“The APC government in Lagos has done well, you can all attest to that in Eti-Osa; this election is about making sure that we do much more in the next four years. There will be additional roads, 24/7 Bus-Rapid-Transport services, better security, and we’ll explore the tourism potentials of this LGA in particular, to create a thriving 24/7 economy for our state”, he said.

Ambode also mentioned his Employment Trust Fund programme aimed at empowering the youths, whom he described as the future of state and country.

Ambode also appraised the political structure and manifesto of the APC, which totally outwits that of the opposition, using that to urge the electorates to actively partake in the move to make good governance a mainstay in he nation.

The present APC leaders, leaders of ethnic nationalities in Eti-Osa, and a host of resident Nollywood artistes, all spoke in support of Ambode and other APC candidates at the rally, while also stressing the importance of getting the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in order to truly partake in the elections meant to effect change in the country and continuity in the state.

The Governor of Lagos state, His Excellency, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) enlisted the many feats of his administration especially in the Eti-Osa, and more importantly noted that Ambode will truly consolidate well on such feats throughout the state, one of which is the 100-bedroom Hospital being built in the LGA.

He said the opposition party are a party of lies that should not be entrusted with governance at any level, hence, a vote for the APC at all levels will make good governance obtainable in the state and in all parts of the country.

The union of Taxi drivers and Private cab operators in Lagos state have been assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to make Lagos work for all.

This assurance came today during a meeting of the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola and the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, with members of the Lagos state Taxi Drivers and Cab Operators Association, the Taxi Arm of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and also members of the Forum of Lagos state Modern Taxi Operators.

Governor Fashola said that the state, under the APC, remains determined to sustain the working relationship that has been developed with the transport unions over the years. He promised the passage of policies that will create more ease in their operations across the state.

Fashola moved on to present Akinwunmi Ambode to the audience, adding that he is the right man that will succeed at the job of maintaining an excellent and working Lagos that will truly work for all.

Speaking through their leaders, Prince Tajudeen Adetoro (Taxi Drivers Association) Otunba Olatunji Ogunjobi (NURTW) and Mr. Adeboye Ajakaiye (Modern Taxi Operators), the members declared their solidarity with the sustenance of continuity in Lagos state, thus, their support for the Ambode project.

Prince Adetoro was quoted as saying, “We are surely going to align with the party of progressives. 75% of all our members across our 289 branches in Lagos have gotten their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), and I know the we will vote wisely”.

Mr. Ajakaiye added that they are sure the policies of the APC for Lagosians working in the transport sector will continue to favor them, after he had expressed appreciation for how responsive the government had been towards them.

The meeting was convened by the Honourable Commissioner of Transport, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, and was also attended by Mr. Ambode’s running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule. The Chairman, House Committee on Transport, Honourable Bisi Yusuf was also present at the event.

The Governor of Lagos state, His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola today presented Akinwunmi Ambode to a hoard of traders at the popular Ladipo Market in the Mushin Local Government Area (LGA), describing him as the next Executive governor of the state.

“The APC government has done tremendously well in this state and you all can attest to that yourselves. It is in this light that I present to you someone who understands how the delivery of good governance works, Akinwunmi Ambode, your next governor”, Governor Fashola stated.

Governor Fashola further explained that the experience Ambode has garnered while working with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and himself is “inimitable”, and will be useful in the next four years to ensure that the state remains keeps working and business-friendly.

In his usual manner, Akinwunmi Ambode added cheer to the event by greeting the traders with the “Chineke Idinma” song, while thanking them for turning out to receive him and the Governor.

“Lagos is a land of opportunity, and the success of this market and it’s traders continues to confirm that. What I bring to you is a promise that our government will not encourage discrimination of any form. We will run a government of inclusion for the good of all”.

He promised to apply more business-friendly policies to make their businesses thrive better, adding that he will help create an enabling environment which involves giving better infrastructure, a better road network, and a pedestrian bridge to the area.

“I appreciate your show of support today, but there is still a lot to do. The present political momentum in this state and in the country is in support of good governance, therefore I urge you all to vote for the APC both in Lagos and at the centre, in order to ensure adequate prosperity for us all”, said Ambode conclusively.

The President of the Ladipo market traders, Mr. Ikechukwu Anumanu, was positive in his response by stating that the Ladipo market is for the APC. In his words, “Ladipo is APC, for us, it is forward ever and backward never. We totally accept Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode as our next governor.”

The Lagos Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Ben Akabueze and the state’s APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, also spoke at the event to canvass votes for the much-loved gubernatorial candidate.

The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign train took its campaign to the heart of Surulere today to present their governorship candidate to the electorates in the local government.

The turnout of the party faithful was impressive as always, especially since it was more of a homecoming for the Governor of the state, Governor Babatunde Fashola, who hails from the local government. It also passed as a statement of solidarity with the candidacy of Mr. Ambode.

Ambode’s message to the Surulere people was a promise continuity of the excellence that LGA has seen in the past 8 years.

“The city of Surulere and Lagos will keep working; that is our objective in these next four years and that is my promise to you. Surulere will keep experiencing further growth and continued development that will ensure maximum use of the potentials inherent in this great town”, Ambode stated.

Ambode enumerated his people-printed plans that are all aimed at giving a prosperous livelihood to all Lagosians.
He also promised community-based governance that will ensure rapid delivery of development in the Local Government Areas.
He specifically highlighted a project he termed “Project 20-20-57′, which he said will empower each local government to construct 20 main and inner roads in a year.

“I am one of you, I have being part of you, and I’ll keep being with you”, Ambode pledged.

Governor Fashola thanked the people of Surulere for their unflinching support throughout his tenure, and urged them to transfer that support to Ambode.
He corroborated the message of continuity in Lagos, saying that Akinwunmi Ambode is the best man to ensure further excellence in the affairs of governance in the LGA and in the state as a whole.

“Thank you Surulere for the steady support you have given me over the years, I urge you all to transfer the energy of that support to Akin during this governorship election and also throughout his tenure as your leader”.

Fashola stressed that a vote for Ambode and the party APC will “strengthen the party, consolidate the progress of Lagos state and reinvent the future”.

Ambode, together with Governor Fashola and all the APC leaders present at the rally urged the Surulere electorate not to sell their votes, a move they said can endanger their future; the rather tasked them to vote wisely for the APC at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
