Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday, the 19th of March 2016, attended the joint 32nd, 33rd and 34th convocation ceremony, and 40th Anniversary of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. At the historical and significant event which held at the prestigious institution’s Main Campus, the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honoured with a honorary Doctorate degree in business administration, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.) was also honoured with a honorary doctorate,  while the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu 1 was named the the 3rd Chancellor of the learning institution.  
 
Others top dignitaries at the event include, Senator Olamilekan Solomon from Lagos West Senatorial District, Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, House of Representatives Majority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.
