The people of Badagry today trooped out en masse to receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, his running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule, the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), and the entire APC campaign train at a rally in the ancient town.
The rally was held to present the governorship hopeful and other party candidates to the people ahead of the February elections.
After the party Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, had presented the candidates to the teeming crowd of party faithful and well-meaning supporters, the candidates took turns to assure them that the party, APC, is committed to their welfare.
Akinwunmi Ambode, who was particularly received by the crowd with clear excitement, described his presence in Badagry as a homecoming.
“I am surely one of your own, this is a homecoming for me, and I am here to make this home of ours great. I have lived here enough to understand Badagry as a whole, and I am happy to see the development the division has undergone in the 16 years of democracy with the APC”, Ambode said.
He added, “This is why this forthcoming election in the state should only be about continuity and experience, and not inexperience. I assure you of continual commitment to the development and excellence of Badagry and our state as a whole”.
Ambode also gave assurance of maximizing the potential of Badagry to give a new outlook to the ancient town and also a provision of jobs for the youths.
“Our aim is to create new jobs for the youths of Badagry by exploring the tourism and infrastructural potential of Badagry. We will give you your own economy”.
On the general elections, Ambode urged the people to see utmost importance in voting for the APC in the Presidential elections.
“If you want more of more of good governance, you have to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections. As you vote for me here in Lagos, you need to vote for APC too in the general elections. Get your Permanent Voters Cards and let’s change our lives”.
His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), reiterated APC’s commitment to excellence by stating his happiness about the first-ever cochlear transplant was successfully performed in Lagos yesterday.
In his words, “We do not pay lip service to governance, we practice it, and we deliver it. I’m happy to inform you that the first-ever cochlear transplant was performed successfully in Lagos just yesterday; we have been able to restore hearing to a Lagosian”.
He further remarked that, “this is an example that shows our resolve to give dividends of governance in the APC, and I tell you categorically that Ambode is the man that will keep on with these unmatched feats because he understands the workings of good governance and has experience”.
