Construction of 114 Roads Will Boost Grassroots Development – LG Bosses

The Conference of Executive Secretaries of Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State on Thursday commended the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his passion, commitment and sense of dedication to grassroots development, just as it urged Lagosians to support the current administration in its quest to transform the State.

Some members of the Conference, who spoke on the flag off construction of 114 inner roads across the 57 Councils, said the development was an eloquent proof of Governor Ambode’s passion to truly take Lagos to the next level.

According to them, the benefits and gains of the project to the socio-economic lives of the people would be of massive proportion, and as such the Governor deserves commendation be commended and encouraged to continually give his best to the people.

Speaking on the project, Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. Kolade Alabi said Governor Ambode, by the project, has kept faith with a statement he made some time ago where he said ‘the greatest achievements one can ever have is to truly serve the people.’

While stating that the project was unprecedented in the history of the State, Alabi, who is also the Executive Secretary of Bariga LCDA, said it was clear that the Governor was leaving no stone unturned as he marches on steadily and meticulously.

He said: “You see, it is not a surprise that within seven months of assumption of office, Governor Ambode has positively touched all sectors such as health, education, security and so on. I like to fully align with the Governor’s school of thought which has indeed been our guiding principles even at the local level.

“I can only plead for the support of the people because of a truth, the 114 road project is just a tip of the iceberg as the Governor’s best is yet to come,” Alabi said.

On his part, Executive Secretary of Epe Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Ayinde Seriki said he was proud to be associated with a man whose vision and passion for the transformation of the State was exemplary.

“The project is part of the developmental agenda for the State and I am glad that the Governor is keeping faith with the promises he made to the people during the electioneering campaign. Just in seven months, he has done a lot and there are still plans to do much more than what we are witnessing now.

“I think what we need to do as a people is to support the Governor in his quest to develop the State and turn Lagos into a real megacity,” Seriki said.

The construction of 114 inner roads, two in each of the 57 LGAs and LCDAs is an initiative of the Ambode administration.

The project, which is being fully funded by the State Government, would be completed in six months at a cost of N17.5 billion.

The project is designed to accommodate street lights, walkways and drainages in all the 114 roads, which were selected by the relevant stakeholders such as Community Development Associations (CDAs) and others, and implemented by the 57 Councils.
