A coalition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) aspirants from primary elections, today paid a solidarity visit to the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, at his Gbagada Campaign office.
According to their spokesperson, Hon. Mutiu (Apapa-Iganmu), the visit was intended to show their solidarity with the gubernatorial candidate and all other APC candidates. It was also meant to express their readiness to work assiduously for the party’s victory at all fronts in the forthcoming elections.
“We desire to be a part of the Lagos success story, and we are ready to contribute our quota towards that success, using our political value”, Mutiu said.
In his address, Ambode described their move as a novel one and applauded them for being true progressives in their respective rights. He said “Most aspirants usually get disgruntled, embittered and become disloyal in the event of a loss but you have proven to be better than that by expressing solidarity with the candidates that were chosen to represent us all”.
“This is actually the first time something this honorable is happening in the political sphere; you have laid the template for that paradigm shift we desire in politics, you have made history”.
“That you also have the approval of the party leadership symbolizes the genuineness of your cause, and also indicates that you have future here”, he added.
A visibly impressed Ambode noted that the group members aren’t just a group of aspirants, rather, are a group of loyalists who are committed to the ideals of the party. He welcomed their resolve to show solidarity and promised to be a part of their cause by giving support.
“Not only will I propagate this great idea across and beyond party lines, I will be part of the engagement; I promise total support for you and this selfless vision”, Ambode stressed.
