The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was on the “Oga Madam Office with Lolo1 and Igos” show at the Wazobia FM studios to inform Lagosians about his programmes ahead of the Febraury elections. He spoke generally about his well thought-out plans and policies that are meant to basically better the lives of the people of Lagos.
Speaking in fluent pidgin, the governorship candidate said that the sole motivation behind his gubernatorial intention is seflelses service to humanity. “My people, i don dey serve our dear state for many years, so tey i don learn many many things about governance and leadership. Wetin i wan do now na to keep serving with all the experience wey i don gather, Na the reason why i need you all well-meaning Lagosians to join hands with me and party APC to achieve this better thing”.
Ambode said the state has enjoyed developmental transformation in its 16 years of democracy, adding that what it now needs is continuity, an upgrade of such transformations.
He pointed out two key areas as being constitutionally important in order to achieve good governance, that is, protection of the lives of citizens and the welfare of the citizens. He assured that these two areas form the crux of his agenda, while stating security, job creation and housing as being key to achieve both.
With the intention of getting governance much more closer to the people, he promised also to enhance governance by giving governance back to the local government areas, support them with better financing and monitor them,
in addition to that, Mr. Ambode said his government will create a “well-publicized office of civic engagement” to interface between the government and the masses, with a assurance of swift response from the government.
Ambode displaced rumours and fears of “godfatherism” and “high-tax” that were raised by the listeners by asking that the people should take objective look at the transparent primaries conducted by the party. He urged the people not to entertain such fears, and also consider the fact that the people-oriented policies of the party APC have consistently yielded great benefits.
He rounded off the session by assuring a non-violent and non acrimonious election, simply because he practices a politics of “people and issues”.
