The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, paid a courtesy visit to the leadership, the Principal officers and members of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) today at the Lateef Jakande Hall of the assembly complex, in Alausa, Ikeja.
In a brief welcome address, the deputy speaker of the house, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo said Akinwunmi Ambode is not an outsider to the House of Assembly and as such was welcome to his home. In his remark, the APC governorship candidate thanked the Speaker and Honourable members for the warm reception he was given at the House. He stated that successful governance is only sure when there is unity and cooperation between the legislative and executive arms of the government. In his words, “Our functions maybe different, but our objective is the same. I believe so much in team work, and because we are all winners, we are going to surely work together as one team to take Lagos to the next level.”
Mr. Ambode talked about the experience he got while he worked in the Local Government and in the mainstream civil service Alausa, a period where he had constant working relationship with the state legislature. He said such experience and his ability to serve, places him in good stead to lead the state into further excellence, an end to which he sought their full support in the forthcoming election. “I am here to seek the total support of the 40 members of the Lagos State House Assembly to ensure victory in this election. With your full support, I have the assurance of winning the minds of the grass-root in our state”. On the issue of legislation, Akinwunmi Ambode promised to work with the house to enact new laws that will directly impact positively on the lives of the ordinary man.

In his response, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, said that the visiting gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Akinwunmi Ambode, and the presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, will be both victorious in the 2015 elections by the Grace of God. He moved on to say that the house will stand with, stand by, stand behind and stand ahead him to ensure victory. Having also vied as a gubernatorial aspirant, the Speaker said, “I race a race with my brother and my friend, and today, I am a winner because Akinwunmi Ambode is the gubernatorial candidate of our great party, APC, in Lagos”. The high point of the visit was when the Speaker said he would be the first to address Mr. Ambode as “Your Excellency”, to the cheer of all present.
Giving the vote of thanks, the deputy House leader, Hon. Omolola Akande, thanked Mr. Ambode for the visit and advised him to run an open-door policy especially to the legislative members, while further reassuring him of the grassroots’ support. Also present included the Leader of the House, Hon. Dr. Ajibayo Adeyeye, the Chief Whip, Hon. Abdulrazzaq Balogun, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, Hon. Alawiye King, Hon. Bisi Yusuf, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, among all the other honorable members.
