Lagos Vulcanizers Express Support for Ambode

Members of the Lagos State Vulcanizers Association (LSVA) today paid a solidarity visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, at his Gbagada Campaign office. The Association, led by their Chairman, Prince Abdul-Rasheed Adeyemi, stated that the meeting was intended to state their full support for the gubernatorial candidacy of Mr. Ambode ahead of the April 11 elections. “Our members will vote for Mr. Ambode to become the next Executive Governor of Lagos state. We are ready to support continuity of good governance in Lagos”, stated Prince Abdul-Rasheed Adeyemi.

They however solicited for an appropriate recognition of their association by the State government. Akinwunmi Ambode, while thanking them for the show of support, assured them he would address the issue when voted into power. He said “The kind of recognition we will give you and other artisans in Lagos state involves empowerment and engagement that will boost your productivity”. Ambode further stated that “We will create befitting and accessible work spaces for your members. We already have something known as a U-BOX, a mobile utility-box designed specifically for the work of a vulcanizer. This and other empowerment programmes have been created to make you all productive at work and prosperous”.

The visit by the vulcanizers adds to the increasing number of endorsements received by Akinwunmi Ambode by different segments of the society in the run up to the April 11, 2015 elections.

The Obi-Igbo, a coalition of marketers, professionals, traders, and members of the Igbo community in Lagos, today pledged their total support for the APC and its governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, to ensure success in the April 11 gubernatorial elections.
They gave this assurance at a Press Conference to restate their support and approval for continuity of the APC government in Lagos.

Speaking through the leader of the delegation, Chief Charles Ahize, the Lagos Igbo community expressed their readiness to vote for the APC in Lagos, in order to contribute their quota to the maintenance of the excellence in the state.

“We are here on behalf of the Lagos Igbos to reassure the APC and Akinwunmi Ambode, the Party’s gubernatorial candidate, that the Igbo community is solidly behind them. We have been supporting him and we are resolved to keep doing so”, Ahize said.

“Lagos is home for all of us. There is no acrimony between the Igbos and the Yorubas in Lagos. We are united in one purpose to make Lagos greater and we have duly recognized that continuity is the only way this greatness will be achieved”.

“To this end, we assure you that the APC will get landslide victory in the Igbo-dominated areas on April 11 of April”, Ahize further pledged.

They also promised to extend their support to the APC candidates for Lagos State House of Assembly, identifying them as the ones who will work together with Ambode to guarantee that much-needed progress in the state.

While answering questions during the media chat, Sir Nnamdi Nwigwe, President, Coalition of Traders and Market Associations in Lagos, another member of delegation, doused rumors of a romance with the opposition by stating that the results of the Presidential elections in Lagos simply show how very important and politically aware the Igbo community are, stating that this awareness will be put to work for Ambode’s victory.

“The Lagos Igbos are politically aware and the APC has assured us that we are partners in progress. They are a winning party and we are ready to key into their programmes to make Lagos one of the best cities in the world”, Nwigwe stated.

Other Leaders of the Igbo community present at the press conference include Chief Nathaniel Anigbogu, the Chairman, Olojo drive, Alaba International Market, Barrister Charles Edward Obi, Legal Adviser, Obi-Igbo Organization, Pastor Okey Anorue, President, All Igbo States’ Town Unions in Lagos, Don Metche Nnadiekwe, President-General, United Berger Motor Dealers’ Association, and Chief Sunnex Ohason, Representative of All Markets Under Trade Fair Complex and President, Ndigbo Amaka Lagos.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, has said that Lagos will see faster development now that an APC government is set to govern the country from the centre. He said this while urging Lagosians in a statement to vote for the candidates of the progressive party also in the state gubernatorial elections come April 11, 2015.

“Nigerians have showed great resolve and faith in the APC to hand over the government at the centre to our Party. This presents a unique opportunity for accelerated growth and progress in Lagos”.

He stated that time is set for Lagos to enjoy “more of more” in the delivery of good governance.

He added, “Lagos has not had the luxury of Federal support in the last 16 years. Dear Lagosians, our time has come to enjoy genuine Federal presence to fast-track our development as we look set to achieve a Lagos of our dreams”.

Akinwunmi Ambode, joined other dignitaries to celebrate Princess Adetoun Jemilat Kazeem (née Adeniji-Adele), as she turned 80 years today.

Princess Adetoun Jemilat Kazeem is the daughter of Oba Musendiku Adeniji-Adele II, the Oba of Lagos (1893- 1964) and Olori Adijat Folashade Ayoka Adeniji Adele, was born on the 1st of April, 1935. She is the mother of Prince Adeniji Kazeem, the Deputy Director-General of the Akinwunmi Ambode Campaign Organization.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state described the celebrant as a star mother and a role model to all mothers. He wished her a longer life in good health, peace and happiness.

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) thronged the campaign secretariat of the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos to celebrate the party’s victory in the presidential elections. The large crowd of supporters danced and sang songs of victory and repeatedly chanted “Sai Nigeria”, “Sai Baba”, and “Ambo”, the slogan of Akinwunmi Ambode.

The highpoint was the arrival of the man himself, Akinwunmi Ambode. The crowd erupted in chants of “Ambo” and clung to his car. Akinwunmi Ambode obliged the supporters and came out of his car to salute them. This further excited the already frenzied crowd who kept on expressing so much joy.

The supporters expressed confidence that the APC’s victory will bring positive change to Nigeria. They added that victory for Akinwunmi Ambode come April 11 will bring further development to Lagos, especially now that there will be an APC government at the centre.
