Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, has identified prayer as the key to solving the sundry challenges confronting the country.
She made the submission at the prayer for the Nation 2016, organized by Fatimah Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organization, at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
Mrs. Ambode said that although the country was facing a number of challenges like many countries of the world, fervent prayers to God would speedily resolve them.
According to her, “Prayer is the key for solution to all challenges in the lives of individuals or of nations. That is why this prayer session, meant to commit our country into the hands of God for 2016, is a step in the right direction”.
Speaking further, she said that the anti-corruption war in Nigeria, would restore the dignity of the country, fix infrastructure, create employment in abundance and life would begin to look up again.
While commending the Fatimah Charity Foundation for its commitment to championing national rebirth, she urged country men and women, to see beyond the current socio-economic challenges and embrace the hope that the future would be glorious.
In her welcome address, the Iyalode of Lagos and President, Fatima Charity Foundation, Hajia Bintu-Fatima Tinubu, noted that the presence of the caliber of dignitaries at the event, was testimony that Nigeria would be prosperous again and live up to her claim as giant of Africa.
She urged the citizenry not to despair despite challenges, stressing that there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Speaking on the topic, “The Benefits of Anti-corruption Leadership in Nigeria”, the State Commissioner for Home Affairs and guest speaker, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, enjoined the three arms of government to participate fully in the crusade against corruption and be sensitive to the plight of the citizenry.
He listed good leadership by example, good parenthood and proper child up-bringing, and recognizing religious leaders as development leaders, as necessary steps towards ending corruption.
Present at the event were top government functionaries, league of lmams and market men and women amongst others.
