Lagos State Public Works has commenced a massive rehabilitation of 13 roads in Surulere Local Government of Lagos State.
This was revealed by the Special Adviser/Chief Executive Office (LSPWC) Engr. Ayotunde Sodeinde during an inspection tour of on-going road projects at the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ile-Epo Oja, Oke-odo LCDA.
Sodeinde disclosed that the project which commenced in October last year will be completed within the next two weeks.
He recounted that, the Corporation inherited an inadequate drains at the site and began a reconstruction of 850 metres drainage to contain rain water and discharge from the adjourning market and residential buildings.
The LSPWC Boss added that the Corporation has commenced the asphalting of the 1000 metres of the terribly bad portion of the road. He assured Lagosians plying that road that in another two weeks, they will heave a sigh of relief; appealing to them to bear with the Lagos State Government for the few days they will be working on the road.
He recounted the commitment and magnanimity of His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to have approved the rehabilitation of 13 new road projects in Surulere local government. He added that already, asphalt work had just been completed on Kernel Street while grading of Animashaun Street has commenced.
Other roads due for rehabilitation include Itolo road, Johnson Street, Imam-Dauda, Suenu, Olumegbon, Onitolo, Olorogun, Iluseyi, Aiyegbami and Jeminatu Buraimoh close in Surulere Local Government.
The Special Adviser also inspected the on-going drainage construction and road rehabilitation projects at Queens drive, Ikoyi. He said in the next two weeks the projects will be completed.
Within the last eight months, LSPWC has completed road projects at ACME/Metal box road, Ogba, Alfa-Nla in Agege, Ikotun-Ejigbo road projects, Epe-Ijebu-Ode road, Oba Sekunmade in Ikorodu, CIPM road in Ikeja and Jan. 27 road in Oke-Afa Oshodi/Isolo to mention a few.
