LSPWC Moves To Fix GRA Ikeja, Reconstructs Isaac John Street, Others

Following the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on the reconstruction of the terribly bad stretch of Isaac John Street, which is a beehive of business activities, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation has since moved to site to fix the road.

The road measuring about 1,650m which links Joel Ogunaike and Sobo Arobiodu is presently undergoing major scarifying and base preparation work by the LSPWC gangs.

At the inspection of the road project today, the Chief Executive Office and Special Adviser, LSPWC, Engr. Ayotunde Sodeinde disclosed that the Corporation moved to site on the directive of the Governor, saying, “the Governor asked us to move in six days ago. It is a busy road and when we moved in, it was in a terrible state which impeded vehicular movement.

Sodeinde recalled that the road project was awarded four years ago and His Excellency was not satisfied with the pace of work on site which looked almost abandoned and directed that the Lagos State Public Works Corporation should immediately fix the road.

He added that the Corporation is presently working on about 350m of the road which is in a terrible state; adding that base regulation is on-going and that the road will be asphalted tonight.

The LSPWC Boss reiterated the commitment of Governor Ambode Administration to road construction and rehabilitation in Lagos State, saying the vision of His Excellency is to see a pot-hole free Lagos within the shortest possible time.

Sodeinde also revealed that the drainages on Isaac John and Sobo-Arobiodu Streets will be cleared to allow free flow of rain water; adding that the road will also be marked since it is a commercial road.

He hinted that the Corporation is also planning to fix part of Sobo Arobiodu Street and the long stretch of Dosunmu Street at the Government Reserved Area in Ikeja.

In the last few weeks, LSPWC had completed road projects in Odunlade Street, Somolu, Aiyegbami Street Surulere, Sunmola Street Mende, Maryland while road project in Olorogun Street Surulere is on-going.

He however appealed to residents and motorist plying those roads to be painstaking and bear with Lagos State Government as the presence of Lagos State Public Works Corporation will be seriously felt within the neighbourhood.
