The union of Taxi drivers and Private cab operators in Lagos state have been assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to make Lagos work for all.
This assurance came today during a meeting of the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola and the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, with members of the Lagos state Taxi Drivers and Cab Operators Association, the Taxi Arm of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and also members of the Forum of Lagos state Modern Taxi Operators.
Governor Fashola said that the state, under the APC, remains determined to sustain the working relationship that has been developed with the transport unions over the years. He promised the passage of policies that will create more ease in their operations across the state.
Fashola moved on to present Akinwunmi Ambode to the audience, adding that he is the right man that will succeed at the job of maintaining an excellent and working Lagos that will truly work for all.
Speaking through their leaders, Prince Tajudeen Adetoro (Taxi Drivers Association) Otunba Olatunji Ogunjobi (NURTW) and Mr. Adeboye Ajakaiye (Modern Taxi Operators), the members declared their solidarity with the sustenance of continuity in Lagos state, thus, their support for the Ambode project.
Prince Adetoro was quoted as saying, “We are surely going to align with the party of progressives. 75% of all our members across our 289 branches in Lagos have gotten their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), and I know the we will vote wisely”.
Mr. Ajakaiye added that they are sure the policies of the APC for Lagosians working in the transport sector will continue to favor them, after he had expressed appreciation for how responsive the government had been towards them.
The meeting was convened by the Honourable Commissioner of Transport, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, and was also attended by Mr. Ambode’s running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule. The Chairman, House Committee on Transport, Honourable Bisi Yusuf was also present at the event.
