Akinwunmi Ambode has promised to “massively improve” on the infrastructural setup of Lagos markets to make them better equipped for quick response and accessibility especially during emergency situations.
The governorship candidate of the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) stated this during his assessment of the extent of damage caused by fire at the Fred McQueen street of the Balogun Market in Lagos.
He was welcomed to the site by the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu and the Assistant Director of the Lagos Fire Service, Mr. Musibau Razak.
“These kind of losses are definitely saddening, and I condole with the traders and business men and women that this fire affected. It is government’s responsibility to make sure that these kind of occurrences are prevented”, stated the APC gubernatorial candidate.
He went on to salute the men of the LASEMA and Lagos Fire Service for their efforts at quenching the fire, promising that, “by the grace of God, his government will ensure constant upgrade of their facilities and staff-trainings in order to ensure prompter responses to emergencies of any kind”.
