Akinwunmi Ambode, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state, was today hosted to an interactive session with members and associates of the Eagle Club, Surulere, He employed the interaction to state his plans and programmes already designed to propel Lagos to the next level.
Mr. Ambode stated that his series of interaction with the Lagosian people, which on the day had come to the club, is intended to include every Lagosian thoughts and aspirations into the people-oriented government he will implement when elected.
“I make a proposition of partnership with you, beyond being a prestigious social club, that you all become influencers in our vision to achieve a safer, cleaner and more prosperous Lagos.”
He added, “In as much as I have the requisite experience and expertise to maintain our state’s excellent tradition, I will run a government of inclusion where Local Governments will be empowered to get the people directly involved. In governance”.
He also stated his readiness to consolidate on the irreversible foundation of growth and actualization of progress already established by the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Fashola administrations respectively, underlining how well-conscripted he is for the leadership role, having garnered the adequate experience serving under both governors.
Questions raised during the session included those concerning improved security and infrastructure, workers welfare, and empowerment for business owners, youths and local manufacturers. Ambode reassured that his promise of consolidation sufficiently covers for all areas of concern, as it is poised to improve upon the development obtainable in all areas of governance in Lagos state.
As examples, he mentioned his Project 20/20/57 that will see a minimum of 20 Roads and 20 Streetlights constructed in each of the 57 Local Governments every year, and also an Employment Trust Fund and a Business Support Centre that will ensure productive engagement for talented youths and offer empowerment to businesses.
Ambode, who was constantly referred to as “incoming Governor” for the most part of the event, was then presented with a honorary Eagle Club membership card on behalf of all club members to end a quite constructive interactive session.
