The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign train took its campaign to the heart of Surulere today to present their governorship candidate to the electorates in the local government.
The turnout of the party faithful was impressive as always, especially since it was more of a homecoming for the Governor of the state, Governor Babatunde Fashola, who hails from the local government. It also passed as a statement of solidarity with the candidacy of Mr. Ambode.
Ambode’s message to the Surulere people was a promise continuity of the excellence that LGA has seen in the past 8 years.
“The city of Surulere and Lagos will keep working; that is our objective in these next four years and that is my promise to you. Surulere will keep experiencing further growth and continued development that will ensure maximum use of the potentials inherent in this great town”, Ambode stated.
Ambode enumerated his people-printed plans that are all aimed at giving a prosperous livelihood to all Lagosians.
He also promised community-based governance that will ensure rapid delivery of development in the Local Government Areas.
He specifically highlighted a project he termed “Project 20-20-57′, which he said will empower each local government to construct 20 main and inner roads in a year.
“I am one of you, I have being part of you, and I’ll keep being with you”, Ambode pledged.
Governor Fashola thanked the people of Surulere for their unflinching support throughout his tenure, and urged them to transfer that support to Ambode.
He corroborated the message of continuity in Lagos, saying that Akinwunmi Ambode is the best man to ensure further excellence in the affairs of governance in the LGA and in the state as a whole.
“Thank you Surulere for the steady support you have given me over the years, I urge you all to transfer the energy of that support to Akin during this governorship election and also throughout his tenure as your leader”.
Fashola stressed that a vote for Ambode and the party APC will “strengthen the party, consolidate the progress of Lagos state and reinvent the future”.
Ambode, together with Governor Fashola and all the APC leaders present at the rally urged the Surulere electorate not to sell their votes, a move they said can endanger their future; the rather tasked them to vote wisely for the APC at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
