Akinwunmi Ambode Holds an Interactive session with the Lagos Council of Obas and Chiefs

The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, today held an interactive session with the State’s Council of Obas and Chiefs at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos State House. He shared his programmes for Lagos with them and sought their blessings.

The session was chaired by His Royal Highness, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu the First, and had all the Royal fathers present.

Ambode expressed his appreciation for the Obas’ presence at the meeting and he stated his resolve to work with them to take Lagos state to the next level.

“I’m honored to be among you my Fathers. I am really grateful to you all for making this meeting happen. I am here to restate my sincere desire to keep serving this great state of ours and make it continue in that tradition of excellence it has been known with”. Ambode said.

“I need the support and cooperation of you my Royal fathers to achieve this dream of getting a safer, more secure and more prosperous Lagos. I therefore further solicit your Royal blessings to ensure victory in the forthcoming February 28 gubernatorial election in Lagos.

Speaking on behalf the Obas and Chiefs, Oba Rilwan Akiolu restated his support of Akinwunmi Ambode’s gubernatorial candidacy and he assured him of the support of all the Obas and Chiefs.

In his words, Oba Akiolu said, “I have always maintained that the best is what I will support for Lagos. I assure all of you that Akin Ambode is the best candidate to succeed Governor Fashola and sustain our excellence in Lagos”.

The Royal fathers were unanimous in their support of Ambode to become the next governor of the state, a move which the candidate expressed appreciation for.

“I am so happy for your support my dear Royal fathers, I promise to uphold the prestige of our traditional institutions and also project the proud heritage of Lagos to the world”. Ambode stated.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, today paid homage to the two traditional rulers in the Epe division of the state. He was warmly received by His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Epe Land, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun and Oba Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom. Mr. Ambode also met with their Royal Chiefs and Baales, who all together with the Obas were unanimous in their endorsement of Mr. Ambode’s gubernatorial candidacy.

The Royal fathers both bestowed royal blessings and prayers on the Lagos governorship hopeful, in order to ensure his victory in Lagos 2015 polls. Mr. Ambode expressed his appreciation for the support shown by the Royal fathers, and he promised not to disappoint the faith invested in him.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today was the guest on a radio show “Eto Oselu” on Bond FM 92.9. He was there to discuss some of his programmes for Lagos.

Mr. Ambode echoed that his governorship intention is borne out of a selfless desire to serve and keep serving.

He stated that “I have served our dear state in different capacities for 27 years, both at the local government level and at Alausa. So, this present intention of mine to run for the post of the Governor of Lagos state is hinged on a desire to use the experience and expertise that I have gathered in my years of service to take our state to the next level”.While answering questions from the hosts and also from the listeners around Lagos, the vastly experienced governorship hopeful detailed his novel plans for job creation, urban standardization, rural urbanization, road construction, health, economic diversification, affordable housing, and welfare for the elderly and widows, among others.

“I will use my local government experience to empower our Community Development Councils (CDCs) in order to ensure rapid development of all the divisions in our state”, Ambode said.

He added, “There is also a set plan to create a 1 Billion Naira Lagos Employment Trust Fund for each Local government and Local Community development Area, which will make our youths have financial access to fund their entrepreneurial projects and also become employers of labour. This will solve the unemployment challenge and further broaden our economy”.

He urged the people to vote for the APC in the forthcoming elections, stating that “continuity is the best option for Lagos at the moment in order to keep on with the steady progress and development it has enjoyed in the past 15 years of democracy”.

The much-loved governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today took his message of selfless service to Ketu, where he boarded one of the Bus-Rapid Transport (BRT) buses to the surprise of all present. He employed the opportunity to share some of his plans for Lagos.

Mr, Ambode had alighted from his convoy to join the queue of waiting commuters, stating his reason “as a desire to have a feel of the masses’ experience with public transport”.
His presence caused a stir as people trooped out to catch a glimpse of the man they’ve heard so much good about.

While on the queue, the gubernatorial candidate engaged the people in a productive discuss, where concerns regarding lateness of the buses, disturbance by “area boys”, lack of comfort, and some level of insecurity, were raised by the clearly elated people.
He entertained further questions from them as the bus moved from Ketu to Fadeyi, and he answered them all articulately.

Ambode said the people are at the centre of his plans for Lagos state, adding that all of their concerns have answers in the concept of selfless service that he solidly believes in.
“My message to you is the one of selfless service to humanity, and that is what I intend to give you; it is always government’s responsibility to cater for the needs of its people and there’s a way selfless service transforms into that good governance that we all need”.

He added, “I assure you all that plans and policies are already set to expand and upgrade the transport sector, in such a way that “timeliness, security and comfort” into the functionality of the sector.
“We must make sure that our people move from one place to the other with ease, it is something we must just do”.

Replying the “area boys” question, Ambode said his government will create a vigorous vocational and technical training program that will be installed into Lagos schools also into all the local government areas and local councils. He said, ” this move will take the street urchins off the street, engage them productively, create more jobs in the process, and eventually make them fill a thriving low-level market”.

He gave his similarly advanced plans for the health, security, education and housing sectors of government.

He finally urged them to get their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), and ensure that they voted for him and also for “Change” at the centre.
