The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was part of the 2015 Annual Tree Planting Campaign in the state. He expressed his administration’s commitment to preservation of the environment and mitigation of global warming via tree planting. The Governor flagged off the tree planting exercise at the Government Technical College, Ikotun, Lagos State.
In the course of the exercise, the Governor encouraged Lagosians to embrace tree planting and shun indiscriminate felling of trees. He explained that the earth does not belong to us but to posterity and tree planting is an integral part of maintain the earth. Mr. Ambode further tasked Lagos residents to take care of the trees in order to preserve the lungs of the earth.
The Governor made it clear that tree planting exercise is a good strategy deal with the challenge of climate change and its effect on human lives and the earth.
