Akinwunmi Ambode was in an interactive meeting with Baales and Chiefs of Ibeju-Lekki today, where he restated his commitment to the making of a greater Lagos.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state said that he readily identifies with the important roles of the community heads in maintaining order and civility in the society.
“The important role of our traditional institutions will be incomplete without the input of our Baales. I will work closely with you to achieve a Lagos that works for all”, he said.
The Baales also together expressed their readiness to work with the competence-famed Ambode, and promised to employ their communal understanding in favour of his candidacy at the polls.
The Baales agreed to the idea of continuity in Lagos, stating that it is continuity that will make their communities become the grand, economically viable and livable cities they are already growing to be under the leadership of the APC. They however besought the incoming administration of direct inclusion in the affairs of governance as touching their respective communities.
Ambode responded in the affirmative, stating for the umpteenth time that his government when elected will “give governance back to the people by giving more empowerment to the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Community Development Areas (LCDAs).”.
He concluded by stating that the welfare of the community heads, and that of all Lagosians is topmost in his priorities
