Akinwunmi Ambode Leads APC to Victory in Epe

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state recorded a convincing victory at the polling unit of its gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. Ambode cast his vote in his Epe hometown at the Unit 33, Ward A5 polling centre located in Ogunmodede Secondary school, Papa Epe.

The Epe electorates, inspired by the presence of the governorship candidate, gave the APC and its candidates a big win that saw the party poll an average 60% of the votes at the 3 levels contested.

In the Presidential elections, out of a total 170 accredited voters in the booth, the APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, amassed 97 votes as against the main opposition’s 71. The APC Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Senator Gbenga Ashafa polled 103 votes to defeat the People’s Democratic Party’s 66 while Wale Raji, APC candidate for the Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives secured 101 votes to cap off a sweeping victory.

At the adjourning polling unit 57 under the same ward A5, the APC took two-thirds of the votes to march conveniently to victory.

Similarly impressive results were recorded for the APC in the other wards and polling units in the division, a situation that sets the right tone in favour of the APC in the governorship and state House of Assembly elections coming up in two weeks.

The election process at the polling zone and in most parts of the Epe division was peaceful and witnessed an encouraging turnout of the Epe people who had turned out as early as 7:30am to exercise their franchise for progressiveness as the results have shown.

Mr. Ambode expressed delight at the encouraging turnout of the Epe electorates and the conduct of the elections at his polling unit. He stated his satisfaction with the performance of the card reader delight.

At exactly 2:44pm today, the governorship candidate, in company of his wife, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, successfully cast his vote, after which he proceeded to engage with the press to state observations.

The process of accreditation had kicked off at the polling centre by 9:15 am, before voting commenced by 1:40pm. The seamless voting process lasted for more than two hours.

With reports of late arrival of INEC officials, polling materials, hitches experienced using the card reader and late commencement of accreditation in many polling units, Ambode urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to seriously consider an extension of the time of voting in order to resolve these issues to avoide the disenfranchisement of many voters.

Notably, INEC has now announced that it has extended the voting period till tomorrow, Sunday, to accommodate disenfranchised voters and areas where materials arrived late.

Epe erupts for Akinwunmi Ambode as Lagos APC Campaign Train enters Epe Town

The whole town of Epe literally erupted for their son, Akinwunmi Ambode, the Lagos state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, as the entire campaign train of the party hit the town to present their candidates to the Epe electorates, today the 29th day of January, 2015.

The large crowd and the presence of foremost party leaders at the Epe rally depicted the massive support that Ambode’s candidacy has in the division.

Also, the presence of all the APC gubernatorial aspirants that vied in the APC gubernatorial primaries under the aegis “Aspirants Support Group”, showed solidarity and provided added steam to the support of the man they referred to as the “Consolidator” of the good works the state has constantly experienced.

Ambode spoke of his happiness to be among his kinsmen, and promised not to disappoint them as he further canvassed for their total support in the forthcoming elections.

“I am so happy to get this impressive turnout from my kinsmen. You have made me proud and at the same time humbled by standing by me and the party and I will not let you down”, Ambode reassured.

He added that the whole of Epe will experience further development that betters the one seen under the present government.

“I promise rapid and wondrous development, both infrastructural and economic, that will attract more investments, create jobs and engage our youths. There will be prosperity for all and Epe will be a new town”.

He urged them to take the 2015 general elections as an important one, as it is a determinant to the achievement to good governance that all Nigerians deserve.

“As the elections draw near, I urge you all to take it as an important one, which offers the chance of continuity here in our state and change at the centre. I need your votes to achieve the excellence we continually deserve in Lagos, and also your votes for the APC Presidential candidates to get more. To this end, you all eligible to votes must ensure collection of your Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to effect this change”, stated Ambode.

The Lagos governorship hopeful wrapped up his speech by promising thus, “I will do everything this town deserves to make it more prosperous and make the lives her people better. God will help us”.

The Governor of Lagos state, His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola also thanked the Epe electorates and the Aspirants Support Group for the impressive and encouraging turnout. He urged them to shun what he described as “inexperience, deception, and experimentation” and rather embrace “competence and experience”, the combined attributes that makes Ambode the candidate to vote for to succeed him.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, today paid homage to the two traditional rulers in the Epe division of the state. He was warmly received by His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Epe Land, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun and Oba Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom. Mr. Ambode also met with their Royal Chiefs and Baales, who all together with the Obas were unanimous in their endorsement of Mr. Ambode’s gubernatorial candidacy.

Akinwunmi Ambode’s consultation tour of LGAs reached a climax today as he visited the party leadership and faithful in the Epe division of the state. It was a homecoming of sorts for the son of the soil who had come to formally state his gubernatorial aspiration to his kinsmen.

Amidst singing and a lot of cheer, Akinwunmi Ambode was received by a state leader of the Party, Alhaji (Chief) Sakiru Akanni Seriki, and a host of other leaders which included Alhaji Lanre Rasaq, Alhaji B.A Akintola, Chief Olusegun Arowojobe, Chief G.A Olayemi, Hon. Wasiu Ayo Odeyemi, Otunba Alogba, Hon. Tunde Salau, Hon. Muslim Folami, Alhaja Ramota Bankole, Hon. Ibrahim Korede, Barr. Seriki, Alhaja Iyabo Adegboyega, among others.

In the opening remarks, Hon. Lanre Razaq firstly thanked the state’s party leadership for putting their weight behind a distinguished son of Epe. He solicited totality of effort and absolute commitment from the Epe leadership to the project tagged “Akinwunmi Ambode”. Alhaji Seriki echoed the same thoughts by urging avoidance of distractions and saboteurs in their pursuit of victory for Akinwunmi Ambode’s candidacy. He further discarded rumours about indigeneship as mere bouts of envy by detractors, all of which should not be given attention.

More importantly, Alhaji Seriki noted that having done it before, Akinwunmi Ambode is the only candidate with the financial nous and ingenuity needed to ensure that Lagos successfully survives the present Nigeria and worldwide economic downturn; more reason why all the party delegates and in fact, all well-meaning Lagosians should vote for him.

Akinwunmi Ambode responded by stating total appreciation of the long-standing support the Epe leadership has given to him. He described himself as a torch-bearer for the Epe division, who is resolved to make them proud by being committed to the singular purpose of the continuity of good governance in Lagos state. He called for togetherness in the division as he sought 101% of the delegates’ votes at the imminent primaries to ensure wholesome victory for his candidature and the division itself.
He did state that his submission to the wonderful policies of the party remains unwavering.

All the leaders and the present party faithful gave numerous testimonies that appraised Akinwunmi Ambode’s excellent qualities of leadership, compassion and selflessness. Meanwhile, urban development, youth empowerment, and women participation were the aspects they urged Akinwunmi Ambodeto focus on upon his assumption of office.

At the. Eti-Osa LG, Alhaji (Prince) Murphy Adetoro led other party leaders including Hon. Yomi Olubajo, Alhaji Alli, Hon. Anofiu Elegushi, Hon. Rilwan Akinjagunla, Hon. Arobadade, Hon. Alimi, Mrs. Omolola Vaughn, Hon. Yomi Daramola, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun, Hon. Moshood Masha, among others to receive Akinwunmi Ambode.

They stated belief in Akinwunmi Ambode’s candidacy based on their acknowledgment of his experience and excellent testimonies of competence. Hence, a promise of their total support at the primaries for Akinwunmi Ambode, to ensure victory for Lagos.

Full of appreciation, Akinwunmi Ambode assured them of never failing the trust vested on his abilities to take the state to greater heights. He promised to run an open door policy where the views and opinions of the people will be duly welcomed.
