Ambode takes manifesto message inside the BRT bus

The much-loved governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today took his message of selfless service to Ketu, where he boarded one of the Bus-Rapid Transport (BRT) buses to the surprise of all present. He employed the opportunity to share some of his plans for Lagos.

Mr, Ambode had alighted from his convoy to join the queue of waiting commuters, stating his reason “as a desire to have a feel of the masses’ experience with public transport”.
His presence caused a stir as people trooped out to catch a glimpse of the man they’ve heard so much good about.

While on the queue, the gubernatorial candidate engaged the people in a productive discuss, where concerns regarding lateness of the buses, disturbance by “area boys”, lack of comfort, and some level of insecurity, were raised by the clearly elated people.
He entertained further questions from them as the bus moved from Ketu to Fadeyi, and he answered them all articulately.

Ambode said the people are at the centre of his plans for Lagos state, adding that all of their concerns have answers in the concept of selfless service that he solidly believes in.
“My message to you is the one of selfless service to humanity, and that is what I intend to give you; it is always government’s responsibility to cater for the needs of its people and there’s a way selfless service transforms into that good governance that we all need”.

He added, “I assure you all that plans and policies are already set to expand and upgrade the transport sector, in such a way that “timeliness, security and comfort” into the functionality of the sector.
“We must make sure that our people move from one place to the other with ease, it is something we must just do”.

Replying the “area boys” question, Ambode said his government will create a vigorous vocational and technical training program that will be installed into Lagos schools also into all the local government areas and local councils. He said, ” this move will take the street urchins off the street, engage them productively, create more jobs in the process, and eventually make them fill a thriving low-level market”.

He gave his similarly advanced plans for the health, security, education and housing sectors of government.

He finally urged them to get their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), and ensure that they voted for him and also for “Change” at the centre.

He echoed his belief that service to humanity is the greatest form of service, saying that has been what he exemplified in his 27 years of public service.
