Ambode assesses extent of the fire incident at Balogun market

Akinwunmi Ambode has promised to “massively improve” on the infrastructural setup of Lagos markets to make them better equipped for quick response and accessibility especially during emergency situations.

The governorship candidate of the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) stated this during his assessment of the extent of damage caused by fire at the Fred McQueen street of the Balogun Market in Lagos.

He was welcomed to the site by the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu and the Assistant Director of the Lagos Fire Service, Mr. Musibau Razak.

“These kind of losses are definitely saddening, and I condole with the traders and business men and women that this fire affected. It is government’s responsibility to make sure that these kind of occurrences are prevented”, stated the APC gubernatorial candidate.

He went on to salute the men of the LASEMA and Lagos Fire Service for their efforts at quenching the fire, promising that, “by the grace of God, his government will ensure constant upgrade of their facilities and staff-trainings in order to ensure prompter responses to emergencies of any kind”.

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today paid a visit to the Oko-Baba residents in Ebute-Metta,to condole with them following the fire incident that razed the area.

He was warmly received to the site of the incident by the Baale of Oko-baba, Alhaji Musibau Jinadu, two top Nollywood actors, Yinka Quadri and Taiwo Hassan, all together with the teeming members of the community.

The governorship candidate expressed deep sadness at the loss of lives and properties as he assessed the awful extent of damage caused by the fire.

He went on to assure the affected and displaced victims of support throughout the “tough period”.
“I will relay what I have seen here to our government, and I will work with the elders of the community to get back to all of you”, he said.

Akinwunmi Ambode Talks Leadership, Politics and Service at LTV and EKO FM

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has highlighted that Security and the Creation of More Jobs, are the two key areas where his government will focus.
He stated this today as a guest on the “Owuro Lawa” and “Lagos This Morning” shows held at the LTV and Eko FM studios in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

The governorship candidate also used the opportunity to inform his listeners about his many other programmes intended to elevate governance in Lagos to another level.

He said, “As a thorough and experienced administrator who has served our dear state meritoriously for 27 years, I am simply determined to continue in that mode of service. I have been accustomed to the values of Leadership since my teenage years, and I believe all of these puts me in a good position to serve our dear state in the next four years”.

Speaking about his foray into politics, Mr. Ambode stated that, “I am enjoying the challenge of politics simply because for me, it’s being all about service.”

He added, “There has been a paradigm shift in the political landscape, where the expectations of the governed have in way demanded a level of professionalism in the kind of politics we play. And, that has been evident in the way I have run my campaign in the past one year”

On rural development, he added that he intends to reduce the massive urban drift by creating wealth in such areas, “My plans for rural development is basically economic livability and viability, essentially by giving governance back to the local governments, complimenting the activities from the government at the centre”, Ambode said.

Ambode also promised to bring reforms that will upscale and inject a new-level of efficiency into the civil service. He added, “I will look into the welfare of all civil servants to the best of my ability”.

Ambode identified with the importance of the media and communication in governance and as such promised “huge investments and capacity-building programmes” intended to internationalize the activities of the Lagos state broadcasting establishments.

He went on to link qualitative education to job creation and a thriving economy. He said, “The introduction of technology, vocational and technical curricula into our schools and educational institutions will give needed exposure to our teenagers and youths and then equip them with requirements for a thriving economy, and thus, bridge the unemployment gap. This is what we want in our Lagos”.

His final words to his listeners, “I see a safe, secure and more prosperous Lagos driven by qualitative service, equity and justice. I see a Lagos where every Nigerian resident therein will enjoy the fruits of good governance. Keep voting for the APC, and together, we will make our state and nation even greater”

Ambode Hosts the Winners of the Jagaban Cup

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode today hosted the winners of the Third Edition of the Under-15 Football competition organized by the Jagaban Fans’ Club.

Mr. Ambode acknowledged that by mere participation, all the teams and teenagers that participated in the competition “are all champions”.

Speaking to the teenagers, the governorship candidate said that the present government of Governor Fashola had done well in the education sector, but promised that he will surely do even better “I will create a much more better environment of learning for you, that will groom you to become better and accomplished adults”

While identifying with them as a sport-lover too, Mr. Ambode encouraged the team players with his success story, urging them to make sure they maintained a “mental balance” between studying and the utilization of their footballing talents.

The winning team, Maradona Football Club, and the 1st runner-up, Lakeside football academy, and the 2nd runner-up, The Great F.A, who couldn’t cease from clapping, were presented with trophies and cash gifts by the governorship candidate.

The leader of the Jagaban Fans’ Club, Engineer Olukayode David Ishola, expressed appreciation for Mr. Ambode’s reception and kind gesture, promising continual support as he gave the vote of thanks.
