Ambode receives a courtesy visit from Independent Support Group

Members of the Independent Support Group in the Lagos political class led by the Minister of State for Defence, Chief Demola Seriki today paid a courtesy visit to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode at his Gbagada campaign office. The members endorsed Mr. Ambode’s candidacy and assured him of their cooperation and support in the gubernatorial elections.

The key members of the group who came on this visit included the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikuforiji, former Attorney-General and former Commisioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Shasore, a former Commissioner for Special duties, Dr. Tola Kasali, Mr. Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Alhaji Tajudeen Adaranijo, among others.

Mr. Ambode thanked them for their support and encouragement and promised to take Lagos to new heights.

Ambode attends Consultative Meeting towards a successful and violence-free 2015 election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and his running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule joined other stakeholders in the forthcoming elections in a consultative meeting towards a successful and violence-free 2015 General elections.

The meeting was hosted by the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, CP Christopher Kayode Aderanti and was held at the Grace Akpoyibo Hall of the Police Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.

The stakeholders present at the event included different party candidates, political party leaders, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, International and local observers, the media and representatives of all Nigerian security outfits.

In his opening remark, the Commissioner of Police urged for cooperation from all the stakeholders in order to ensure a smooth electioneering process in the coming weeks.
He assured the stakeholders that the security operatives will remain apolitical, while also urging the electorates to be vigilant and avoid any form of violence.
He particularly appealed to the candidates to educate their supporters on the need to shun electoral violence and malpractices.

Speaking at the event, Akinwunmi Ambode thanked the Commissioner of police for the reassurance of violence free elections. He identified that the security agencies are very critical to the success of the elections and urged them to remain non-partisan in the discharge of their duties during the elections.

“I do recognize that security is key to the achievement of violence free elections. The electorate and the entire electioneering process should be protected in order to exercise their civil rights. I urge you to be neutral, and not fail, the elections and the process will fail if you fail. I urge you to stand up to be counted for fairness and neutrality”, Ambode said.

He added, “I am totally against electoral violence. We stand for peaceful and positive Change. I look forward to smooth and peaceful elections come February”

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos, Mr. Akin Orebiyi, had earlier urged the stakeholders to embark on massive voter education in order to make them conversant with the workings of the forthcoming elections, particularly about the importance of shunning violence and the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). He stated that only 2.3 million out of 4 million eligible voters in Lagos have collected their PVCs,
He further appealed to the candidates to ensure that they run issue-based campaigns, and shun inciting, abusive and provocative statements throughout the election period.

The gubernatorial candidates and party chairmen of all the political parties present took turns to sign a memorandum of “NO ELECTORAL VIOLENCE”, to wrap up the consultative discuss.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode,today gave an address at the Lagos Business School breakfast meeting.

The meeting was attended by top business executives and captains of industry.

Mr. Ambode assured that under his watch, Lagos will be open for bigger business and more participation by the organized private sector. He said Lagos state is committed to creating an enabling environment for all businesses to thrive and guarantee a win-win situation for all stakeholders.

He fielded questions from the leaders of the private sector on issues bordering on the economy, job creation, transportation, healthcare, education and public-private partnerships.

He explained extensively his programmes for Lagos state, which include the Employment Trust Fund and Project T.H.E.S.E (Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment, Sports and Excellence). He also spoke on plans to handle challenges of traffic congestion, housing and healthcare.

He told the businesses leaders that they have a major part to play in taking Lagos to the next level and that the private sector is key to driving the economy.

The Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, had earlier given an overview of the economy and projections for the future.

Akinwunmi Ambode on roadshow with Team A+ in Alimosho

The Akinwunmi Ambode Volunteer Corps, Team A+, today organized a successful road show in the largest local government area (LGA) in Lagos state, the Alimosho LGA. Their Principal, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode himself, graced the road show with his presence.

Mr. Ambode used the opportunity to engage the Alimosho electorates, which included the artisans, professionals, transport workers, school pupils, market men and women, and the articulate youths. He promised them continuity of excellence in governance in Lagos, and the implementation of people-oriented policies that will better their livelihood and businesses.

The road show coursed through Ikotun-Egbe, Council, Idimu-Egbe, Isheri, Abule-Odu, Egbeda, Mosalasi, Shagari Estate, Gowon Estate, Abesan Estate, Alagutan and Iyana-Ipaja areas of the LGA.

The road show achieved the intention of sensitizing the masses about Mr. Ambode’s gubernatorial candidacy and programmes for Lagos state.
