Jubilant scenes marked the Akinwunmi Ambode roadshow today as it moved through Obalende and its environs in the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Community Development Area.
The rousing reception of people consisting Lagosians of different ethnic nationalities together with passerscheered Ambode through the course of roadshow, while chanting phrases that included “incoming governor”, “AMBO!”, “Ride on APC”, amidst similarly supportive expressions.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state was joined in the roadshow by the Senator representing Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (OON) and Lagos state House of Assembly member representing Eti-Osa constituency, Engineer Gbolohan Olusegun Yishawu.
The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate was full of confidence as he assured the Eti-Osa gathering of maintaining the tradition of excellence that the state is known for nationwide. He stated this today at his interactive town hall meeting with the Eti-Osa people, in the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Community Development Area.
Ambode restated the essence of the interactive session as a desire to listen to the people’s demands and concerns, which will form the thrust of his administration. Continuity was the recurring demand and bonding word as the different groups of the people took turns to ask questions that bordered on improved infrastructure, recognition, inclusion, more participation and welfare.
The gubernatorial candidate said the primary responsibility of any government is to uphold the interests of its people. While promising to continue the good works in the state, he added that his administration, when elected, will prioritize their welfare and protect their interests by implementing people-based policies and programmes.
Traditional rulers, religious and civil society groups, the body of Artisans, market women and men together with the Eti-Osa youths participated in the interaction, and re all unanimous in the expression of support for continuity in Lagos.
Ambode was joined at the interactive session by Senator representing Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (OON), who enjoined the people to express pragmatic support, first by getting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), and then by actually voting and defending their votes for the APC on Election Day.
Akinwunmi Ambode today felicitated with Justice Adesola George Oguntade (Rtd) on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The celebrant was also celebrating a productive and peaceful 5 years in retirement.
The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate joined other notable dignitaries to celebrate the highly respected former Federal High Court Judge. They include His Royal Highness, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu the First, the First Lady of Lagos state, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, Lagos state APC gubernatorial running mate, Dr. (Mrs) Oluranti Adebule, Chairman, Doyin Group of Companies, Chief Adedoyin, Chairman, Eleganza Group, Chief Razak Okoya, among others.
Ambode congratulated Rtd. Justice Oguntade and his family, wishing him more fruitful years of bliss and graceful growth in health.
The Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, proceeded into a meeting with the Traditional Rulers of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area after the much successful rally held in the same LGA. The meting was held at the palace of the Onikate of Ikate Land, Oba Saheed Elegushi, and had other Obas, white cap Chiefs and Baales duly present.
The traditional rulers expressed happiness at having the pleasure of associating with the candidacy of Mr. Ambode, who they described as someone competent enough to continue the good works of Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN).
They however used the opportunity to also implore the appraised “incoming” Governor to ensure better welfare for them.
In their words, “We implore the incoming Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to continue the good work of Governor Fashola has started, and to fly the flag of his predecessor, Insha Allah, higher”, they said.
Others Obas present at the meeting include the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abiodun Idowu, Ojomu of Ajiran, Oba Tijani Akinloye Sateru II, and the Baales led by Oloye N.O Laguda, Baale of Ikota.
It was the turn of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area (LGA) today to express total support and acceptance for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Lagos state governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, during the APC rally held IPin the LGA. The Eti-Osa people gave an outstanding turnout which further galvanized the victorious momentum the APC keeps garnering as the election draw near.
In his address, a visibly grateful Ambode promised the people to consolidate on the feats of the present APC government when elected, with an added pledge to even do much more.
He said the economy of Lagos state is directly related to its transportation set-up, security and tourism, and added that Eti-Osa LGA will benefit tremendously from the planned 24/7 economy that will be created for the state through the upgrading and exploration of these sectors in the next four years.
“The APC government in Lagos has done well, you can all attest to that in Eti-Osa; this election is about making sure that we do much more in the next four years. There will be additional roads, 24/7 Bus-Rapid-Transport services, better security, and we’ll explore the tourism potentials of this LGA in particular, to create a thriving 24/7 economy for our state”, he said.
Ambode also mentioned his Employment Trust Fund programme aimed at empowering the youths, whom he described as the future of state and country.
Ambode also appraised the political structure and manifesto of the APC, which totally outwits that of the opposition, using that to urge the electorates to actively partake in the move to make good governance a mainstay in he nation.
The present APC leaders, leaders of ethnic nationalities in Eti-Osa, and a host of resident Nollywood artistes, all spoke in support of Ambode and other APC candidates at the rally, while also stressing the importance of getting the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in order to truly partake in the elections meant to effect change in the country and continuity in the state.
The Governor of Lagos state, His Excellency, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) enlisted the many feats of his administration especially in the Eti-Osa, and more importantly noted that Ambode will truly consolidate well on such feats throughout the state, one of which is the 100-bedroom Hospital being built in the LGA.
He said the opposition party are a party of lies that should not be entrusted with governance at any level, hence, a vote for the APC at all levels will make good governance obtainable in the state and in all parts of the country.
